The Tenors Take Home First JUNO Award: Win the Inaugural ‘Adult Contemporary Album’ Award

The Tenors made history at the 2013 JUNO Awards, by taking home the first-ever Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for LEAD WITH YOUR HEART. The award is the band’s first nomination and first win.

As part of the MusiCounts celebration, the Tenors performed “Forever Young,” on the CTV Juno broadcast and as well at the Juno gala dinner the night before accompanied by the Archbishop M.C. O’Neill Catholic High School Choir.

“Lead With Your Heart is a labour of love and it is truly an honour to receive the inaugural JUNO Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year,” said The Tenors. “We are moved by the support and recognition we have received from our Canadian fans and the music industry. Since their inception only five years ago, The Tenors have had over 600 performances, thrilling audiences around the world with their powerful voices and memorable melodies. Their blend of classical music, contemporary pop and undeniable charm has garnered them international success with music lovers of all ages.

Lead With Your Heart debuted at #1 on the Billboard crossover charts and went platinum in Canada in seven weeks. The album stretches the boundaries of crossover by combining classic songs and modern hits. From cover features such as Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” and Elton John’s “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word” to the inspirational anthem “Amazing Grace”, and one of the most recognizable and heroic Tenor arias, “Nessun Dorma”, the diverse track list features a mix of pop favorites and classical staples along with new compositions written and co-written by The Tenors.

The Tenors have performed worldwide and shared the stage with legendary artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion (on the Oprah show) Sting, and Paul McCartney, to name a few. All hands on deck: P49 throws a party at APAP!

P49 hosted a wildly successful APAP party at the Renaissance Hotel Sunday January 13. Clockwise: P49 members – Matt Charkow, Justin Sudds, Richard Mills, Shaw Saltzberg, Neil Bakshi, Beth Jones-Mudaliyar & Alison Spiriti.

P49 artists performed to over 200 invited guests. After memorable performances by roster-mates The Tenors, Under the Streetlamp and Rocktopia, PostSecret creator Frank Warren took the mic to announce a touring production inspired by the anonymous personal stories posted on his PostSecret website (www.postsecret.com). Host Matt Iseman , star of P49 touring property Women are from Venus, Men are From Mars, wound the crowd up with his humour and charm.

Alison Spiriti has had a broad career in tour direction and booking for theatrical and variety properties on the road. She has served as President of AWA Touring, a booking agency with clients such as Green Day’s American Idiot, The Phantom of the Opera, A Chorus Line, Dreamgirls, Cirque Dreams, Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer Live,
DreamWorks’ Madagascar LIVE, A Christmas Story the Musical, among many others.

As a presenter she served as Senior VP of Programming for Live Nation Inc.’s theatrical division, responsible for programming Broadway series in 40 markets across the US and Canada.  She has also held positions at Disney Theatricals, The William Morris Agency and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  She is a member of the Broadway League and sits on the Board of Directors of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters.
